Plant Trees at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center

Bringing Nature Back II

Volunteers Needed to Plant Trees at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center

REGISTER NOW

Due to the recent heavy rain events in New Orleans, we were unable to plant all 1,000trees at Audubon Nature Center in mid-December. We need your help to complete this restoration project.

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana and Entergy Corporation invite you to participate in a forested wetland restoration project at Audubon Louisiana Nature Center. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, Audubon Louisiana Nature Center was named one of the top five urban nature centers in the United States. The Nature Center suffered considerable damage from Hurricane Katrina which devastated its interpretive center, exhibits and an estimated 75 percent of the forest was destroyed.

This project is being completed through a partnership with Entergy Corporation, Restore America's Estuaries, Audubon Nature Institute, RPM Ecosystems, Natural Resource Conservation Service and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. Volunteers will plant over 500 pots of various species of wetland trees, including bald cypress, red maple and pecan.
When: Saturday, January 16th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Where: Audubon Louisiana Nature Center, 5600 Read Boulevard, New Orleans East (behind Joe Brown Park)

All planting equipment (gloves, shovels, dibbles, etc.) will be provided. Lunch and drinks will be provided to all volunteers. You can volunteer for one or more days. Additional information will be provided to volunteers after registration.

We can do it!

And we, NorthWest Carrollton, will continue to make our neighborhood a better place to live... whether it's fighting blight or planting trees or getting S&W repairs highlighted or....simply smiling and waving to our neighbors

See Article on Inspiration for Poster.
5 years ago we were inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to reach out to the neighbors we were so very glad had returned. As we move into the 6th year PostK let's not forget the good that came out our our experiences.
